Victory of the Word (VOW) was established in 2020 by artists Athi-Patra Ruga and Anelisa Mangcu during the lockdown period. Its primary objective is to raise awareness about the Lovedale Press, which is commemorating its 200th anniversary in 2023. Over the years, the Lovedale Press has published numerous works, featuring cover designs created by renowned black South African artists. These original artworks are an invaluable part of the archive, currently facing the threat of preservation.
Aspire Art Auctions hosted a talk featuring a panel discussion with Anelisa Mangcu, Dr. Athambile Masola, and Sanele Ntshingana. During the talk, they shed light on the present condition of the facility and highlighted its urgent needs to sustain its operations.
